Micheal Parekowhai

Micheal Parekowhai works across the disciplines of sculpture, installation and photography his work “plays with perceptions of space, locality, and nationhood.” (www.rydersalon.com)

Typical of Parekowhais trajectory,  where he applies Maori concepts to his work in a subversive way of which I would like to apply in my own practice in attempting to take a historical way of documenting items of culture and letting my interpretation of objects be a representation of ‘things Maori’

His upscaling of found objects is a definite aspiration for me. I would really like to upscale my artefacts and pou to large scale objects.
